The Hillfields are a series of sculptures inspired by crime and violence in the UK, more specifcifally Coventry, where Kööp has studied for 2 years. Over the course of his stay, the artist learned about the region’s violent ways and safety concerns. Now living in the Nethetherlands, Kööp has taken an interest in his past fears and taken up fascination in objects that could be considered harmful and dangerous. In these sculptures, these sharp obects are combined with other materials in ways that discredit the harmfulness of the objects and place them in a fragile state.
